1. Detection of Artificial Color in Turmeric Powder
Procedure:
- Take a small amount of turmeric powder in a glass of warm water.
- Stir it gently and let it settle.
Observation:
- Pure turmeric: Will settle at the bottom without coloring the water.
- Adulterated with artificial color: Water will turn yellowish as the color dissolves quickly.
2. Detection of Artificial/Water-Soluble Synthetic Colors in Chili Powder
Procedure:
- Take a teaspoon of chili powder in a glass of water.
- Stir it and observe the water.
Observation:
- Pure chili powder: The powder will float, and the water will remain clear with no significant color change.
- Adulterated with synthetic colors: The water will turn red or show streaks of color as synthetic dyes dissolve.
